World Book Day at Stivichall Primary School
I am very much looking forward to visiting Stivichall Primary School in Coventry on Thursday to help with their World Book Day activities. I will be reading an extract from a Charlie Lupton adventure to a couple of classes and then the pupils will have a go at writing their own stories. Apparently they are going to dress up as characters from their favourite children’s book - should be fun!
The Bridge of Terror
Following the success of Last Flight to Lukla another short story has now been written about Sherpa Pemba. It is available for free on this website and is entitled, The Bridge of Terror. Pemba first appeared in Charlie Lupton’s Sherpa Adventure and has proved a popular character with the young, and not so young, reader.
Project Sky Canvas
In Charlie Lupton and the Secret Satellite, a research satellite fires meteorites which are supposed to land in a remote area of Norway. A satellite firing meteorites? Crazy, right? Not quite. I recently heard about a Japanese Company, ALE, and their project called Sky Canvas. This involves launching a satellite which will fire tiny pellets from space into the atmosphere.
All aboard the Story Liner!
I’m busy developing a series of programmes called Story Liner with the local internet TV station, Showboat TV. The series will involve me reading Charlie Lupton’s Sherpa Adventure to camera with each programme covering one or two chapters. I’ve already recorded four chapters. The readings will be interspersed with photographs depicting scenes from each chapter.
Jet on the school field
Truth can be stranger than fiction. Imagine a passage in a Charlie Lupton book which went something like this:
When Charlie and Mickey arrived at school on Monday morning, all the children were gathered at the edge of the playground. They were looking onto the playing field.
‘What’s going on?’ asked Mickey.
‘I dunno,’ said Charlie, ‘let’s go and see.’
They made their way through the crowd of children. When they got to the front they stood, open-mouthed.
The 'Secret Satellite' has been launched
We have liftoff! Charlie Lupton and the Secret Satellite has been successfully launched! It’s another adventure full of excitement and humour. Strap yourself in and stand by for an epic ride. Available from Lulu.
Secret Satellite Launch Approaches
The countdown to the launch of Charlie Lupton and the Secret Satellite is now entering its final phase. We have been busy in the past few days with pre-flight checks on thousands of components - i.e. proofreading thousands of words. All checks have now been completed and the first batch should be shipped from the printers in the next few days! Meanwhile the International Space Station continues to orbit the earth.
